What is DEMAC?

Documentation and Studies of Women, DEMAC (Documentación y Estudios de Mujeres) is a nonprofit civil association founded in 1989 by Dr. Amparo Espinoza Rugarcía to promote the development of Mexican women. DEMAC’s headquarters are located in Mexico City and the organization has offices in Chihuahua, Puebla and Querétaro. Also, there is a representation in Xalapa, in the state of Veracruz.

DEMAC Goals

-       Provide financial support to Mexican women in emergency situations.

-       Invite Mexican women, especially those living situations of marginalization, to tell share stories with courage and honesty so that they are made known.

-       Rescue female experiences and testimonials that allow Mexican women to look at themselves under their own parameters and not through a prism of values that are alien to them.

-       Encourage women from different regions and social positions to participate in “DEMAC Awards for women who dare tell their story®”

-       Spread the thoughts of Mexican women by publishing their autobiographical writings.

-       Promote social reflection about the reality of Mexican women through the texts published by DEMAC Editions.
