  • In Mexico City on average there are 30 thousand marriages and 17 thousand divorces recorded per year.
  • In Mexico, in 2008, more than 589 thousand marriages, six thousand less than in 2007.
  • In 2008, nationwide there were recorded more than 18 thousand divorces, this is four thousand breakups more than in 2007.
  • The states with the highest number of divorces are Baja California, Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon and Colima.
  • The states with the lowest number of divorces are Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas.
  • From the couples that are together: eight out of ten are married and two cohabit.
  • From the women disengaged: 54% are widows and 13.5% are divorced.
  • The average age at the time of marriage for men was 27.8 and for women 25 years old.
  • The states where both men and women are the oldest at the time of marriage are: Veracruz with 30.4 and 27 years, Distrito Federal at ages 30.2 and 27.5 and Nayarit at ages 30 and 26.6, each.
