Suitable to our objective, DEMAC began its announcement to the DEMAC Awards launching two categories, Autobiography and Biography, to which since 1993 and between every two years hundreds of women have participated.

The response to the DEMAC Awards has been overwhelming, the diversity of stories plus the deep interest of many women of all ages and social brackets has been evidently palpable.

Therefore in 1998 we launched the Penitentiary Literature Category and Regional Awards. In 2000 we added the category named << Latin-American Consciousness>> and in 2004 we impelled the Teen Writing Category.

And finally in 2005, since it is also possible to narrate a story with images, we opened the Photography Category.

We added two new categories, “Equal Gender Opportunity in the Media” and “The Encounter of Two Cultures: Mexicans in Switzerland”.

The contests are organized depending on the demand each category has and we also welcome new category proposals…therefore we invite you to join any of the existent categories or let us know what subject or category would catch your interest.
